Tape springs are straight, thin–walled strips with a curved cross–section shaped to meet specific functioning tasks.
Complex springs are generally made of annealed material which undergoes either bainitic hardening after forming (carbon) or vacuum hardening and annealing (stainless). Less complex springs come in pre-hardened materials.
Much like other springs, flat springs are generally fashioned from round wire or strip material then bent into shapes engineered to meet a specific task.
Leaf, beam and cantilever are the most common flat springs.
From 3 to 20 mm wide and from 0.1 to 1.5 mm thick.
